Product Details & Geometry

Roman SL R XXV Frameset

The Roman SL R XXV frameset is the core of our climbing and all-day road platform.

A super-light carbon chassis designed for riders who love long climbs, hilly routes and responsive handling.

It’s the same frame we use for complete SL R bikes, stripped back so you can choose your own groupset, wheels and finishing kit and build your dream lightweight road bike.

If you want a premium carbon frame that feels lively on every climb and doesn’t look like every big-brand bike at the café, this is your Roman.

Who this frameset is for
The SL R XXV frameset is a great choice if you:
• Want to build a light, responsive road bike for hills, sportives or mountain trips
• Prefer an all-round / climber’s feel over a pure aero race platform
• Are upgrading from an older frame but keeping favourite components
• Like the idea of riding an independent UK performance brand rather than a mainstream logo

It’s for riders who enjoy speccing a bike exactly how they want it, with a frame that’s genuinely up to the job.

Lightweight feel, real-world strength
The SL R XXV is engineered to give you that classic “dancing up the climb” sensation, without turning into a flexy noodle:
• Weight-focused carbon construction so the bike feels eager whenever the road tilts up
• Stiff head tube and bottom bracket area for confident power transfer when you accelerate or sprint
• More forgiving seat tube and stays to smooth out rough tarmac and keep you fresher on long days

It’s light and sharp, but still built for the realities of British roads and weather.

Geometry for big days and big descents
The SL R geometry is designed to be:
• Efficient and natural for long rides – you sit “in” the bike rather than perching on top
• Stable and predictable on fast descents and technical corners
• Versatile enough to work as both an all-day endurance bike or a racier setup, depending on how you size and fit it

Think of it as your go-to road frame for everything from Sussex lanes to Alpine passes.

Construction, standards & practical details
The SL R XXV frameset is built to be fast and straightforward to live with:
• High-quality carbon layup – tuned so you get stiffness where you need it and comfort where you want it, rather than a harsh “one-note” feel
• Modern bottom bracket standard offering a wide, stiff interface and compatibility with current high-end road cranksets (see tech spec on this page for the exact standard)
• Internal cable/hose routing for a clean modern look and better protection from the elements
• Clearance for modern road tyres, so you can run wider rubber for comfort and grip without giving away speed
• Flat-mount disc brakes & thru-axles for simple, future-proof wheel and brake choices

It’s a frame any good workshop will be happy to build and service.

What’s included with the frameset
The Roman SL R XXV frameset is supplied with the matched components you need for a cohesive, premium build:
• Roman SL R XXV carbon frame
• Matching carbon road fork
• Dedicated seatpost with matching hardware
• Small parts/hardware for internal routing and thru-axles

(Adjust this list to exactly match what you include in the box.)

“I’ve ridden a lot of bikes over the years from big-name brands to custom builds but the Roman Aero has genuinely surprised me. The first thing that stands out is how balanced it feels. It’s aero and fast when you’re on the gas, but still smooth enough to hold speed over rough roads or longer efforts. The front end feels planted really confidence-inspiring on descents and when you sprint, there’s no hesitation. You can feel every watt going straight into forward motion. Paired with the Laminar wheels, it’s properly rapid. The whole setup feels like it’s been designed by people who understand racers not just engineers or marketers. After a few weeks of racing and training on it, I can honestly say it’s a bike I’d happily race all season. It’s quick, comfortable, and looks incredible in the black finish. Roman have nailed it.” Ollie Peckover UK Road & Time Trial Winner | Roman Bikes Ambassador

Chris Opie Roman Superlight Review “I’ve ridden a lot of bikes in my time from pro team setups to the latest test bikes in the industry and the Roman Superlight instantly felt like a proper race bike. I only had an hour on it, but that was enough to know it’s the real deal. The response when you accelerate is sharp, and the handling feels dialled in straight away light, fast, and composed. You can tell it’s been built with racers in mind. It’s the kind of bike that makes you want to push harder the moment you get on it.” Chris Opie Ex-Professional Cyclist | Former GCN Presenter | Muc-Off
