Roman Aero R XXV Frameset

The Roman Aero R XXV frameset is the starting point for a proper aero race bike build.

It’s the same frame we use for complete Aero R bikes, just stripped back so you can choose your own groupset, wheels and finishing kit.

Designed by the performance team at trainSharp, the Aero R frame is built to be fast, stable and race-ready on real roads, from criteriums and road races to flat and rolling chain gangs.

If you want to build your own premium carbon aero bike that doesn’t look like everyone else’s, this is your Roman.

Who this frameset is for
The Aero R XXV frameset is ideal if you:
• Want a custom build with your own choice of groupset and wheels
• Are upgrading from an older frame but keeping favourite parts (e.g. wheels, groupset)
• Prefer a racier, aero-focused road bike rather than an endurance frame
• Like the idea of riding an independent UK performance brand instead of another mainstream logo

It’s aimed at riders who enjoy the process of specifying a bike exactly how they want it, with a frame that’s genuinely up to the job.

Aero frame, real-world intent
The Aero R XXV frame is shaped for use able aero gains, not just catalogue appeal:
• Aero tube profiles and a clean front end to help you hold speed on flat and rolling terrain
 • Geometry that gives sharp, predictable handling in criteriums and road races without feeling nervous
• A rear end tuned for direct power transfer, so sprinting and surging feel instant

Paired with the right wheels and kit, it’s a chassis that rewards hard riding and makes fast group days feel even better.

Construction, carbon & key details
This isn’t an off-the-shelf open mould – the Aero R is built as a serious race tool:
• High-quality carbon layup – tuned for stiffness at the head tube and bottom bracket, with enough give in the stays and seat tube to stop it feeling like a plank on rough tarmac.
• Pressfit BB86 bottom bracket shell – a wide, well-supported standard for efficient power transfer and compatibility with modern road cranksets.
• Full internal routing – cables and hoses run inside frame, fork and cockpit for clean aerodynamics and a modern, purposeful look.
• Modern clearances – designed around wide-internal rims and up to 30–32 mm road tyres, so you can run a fast, comfortable setup on real roads.
• Flat-mount discs & thru-axles – standard modern brake and axle interfaces to keep builds simple and future-proof.

Everything is aimed at delivering a frame that’s fast, clean and easy to live with for the long term.

Integrated look, practical ownership
The Aero R frameset is supplied with the matched front end and seatpost, so your finished bike looks and feels like a complete system:
• Roman Aero R XXV carbon frame
• Matching carbon fork
• Integrated bar/stem cockpit (for full internal routing and a clean front end)
• Dedicated aero seatpost with matching hardware

We’ve kept standards sensible so any competent workshop can work on the bike without special tools or proprietary oddities. It’s a high-end race frameset that a mechanic won’t hate you for.

“I’ve ridden a lot of bikes over the years from big-name brands to custom builds but the Roman Aero has genuinely surprised me. The first thing that stands out is how balanced it feels. It’s aero and fast when you’re on the gas, but still smooth enough to hold speed over rough roads or longer efforts. The front end feels planted really confidence-inspiring on descents and when you sprint, there’s no hesitation. You can feel every watt going straight into forward motion. Paired with the Laminar wheels, it’s properly rapid. The whole setup feels like it’s been designed by people who understand racers not just engineers or marketers. After a few weeks of racing and training on it, I can honestly say it’s a bike I’d happily race all season. It’s quick, comfortable, and looks incredible in the black finish. Roman have nailed it.” Ollie Peckover UK Road & Time Trial Winner | Roman Bikes Ambassador

Chris Opie Roman Superlight Review “I’ve ridden a lot of bikes in my time from pro team setups to the latest test bikes in the industry and the Roman Superlight instantly felt like a proper race bike. I only had an hour on it, but that was enough to know it’s the real deal. The response when you accelerate is sharp, and the handling feels dialled in straight away light, fast, and composed. You can tell it’s been built with racers in mind. It’s the kind of bike that makes you want to push harder the moment you get on it.” Chris Opie Ex-Professional Cyclist | Former GCN Presenter | Muc-Off
