Roman SL R XXV

The Roman SL R XXV is our super-light road bike.

Designed for riders who come alive when the road tilts up and who want a bike that feels eager every time they stand on the pedals.

Where the Aero R is all about flat and rolling speed, the SL R is built for climbing, long mountain days and hilly UK routes, with a frame that’s light, responsive and balanced rather than brutally stiff.

If you want a premium carbon road bike that floats uphill, carves descents and doesn’t look like everyone else’s, this is your Roman.

Who the SL R suits best
The SL R XXV is a great fit if you:
• Love climbs, hilly sportives and mountainous trips abroad
• Want a bike that feels lively and energetic when you accelerate or dance on the pedals
• Prefer a slightly more all-round / climber’s feel compared with a pure aero race bike
• Like the idea of riding an independent UK performance brand rather than a mainstream name

Think of it as your “go anywhere, ride all day” road bike that still has the sharpness to race.

Light where you want it, solid where you need it
The SL R XXV frame is engineered to give you that super-light, flickable feeling without turning into a noodle:
• Weight-focused carbon construction so the bike feels light under you on climbs and accelerations
• Stiff front end and bottom bracket area for direct, confident power transfer when you get out of the saddle
• More forgiving seat tube and stays to take the edge off broken UK roads and long descents

The result is a bike that rewards you when you ride hard, but doesn’t punish you on hour four of a big day.

Geometry for mountains and mixed terrain
The SL R is built to feel precise and predictable on a wide variety of roads:
• Geometry that keeps you in a naturally efficient position for long climbs and rolling terrain
• Stable, confidence-inspiring handling on fast descents and technical corners
• A fit window that works for both all-day endurance riders and lighter, racier setups, depending how you size and fit it

It’s happy on everything from Sussex lanes to Alpine passes.

Construction, details & day-to-day practicality
The SL R XXV isn’t just light on paper – it’s built to be a long-term partner:
• High-quality carbon layup – tuned so you get stiffness where you push (BB / head tube) and compliance where you sit, not a harsh “one feel everywhere” frame
• Modern bottom bracket and axle standards – chosen for stiffness and broad compatibility with current high-end road groupsets (see tech spec on the page for exact standard)
• Internal routing for a clean, modern look and better protection from the elements
• Clearance for modern road tyres so you can run wider rubber for comfort and grip without giving away speed
• Premium paint and finish – understated Roman graphics and a deep, quality finish that still looks sharp after years of riding, washing and travel

It’s designed to be fast and special, but still straightforward to live with and service.

Built by riders, not just a catalogue
Roman is our own performance brand, created at trainSharp in East Sussex.

We don’t just sell the SL R:
• We ride and test it on the same roads our coached riders train on
• We use our coaching and performance lab experience to choose sensible geometry, layup and spec
• We support the bikes through our in-house workshop and bike fitting studio

That means when you buy an SL R XXV, you’re buying into a setup where the frame, build and fit are all part of one performance system.

Roman Support
When you buy from us you get:
• Help choosing the right size and bar/stem setup
 • The option to pair your bike with a specific bike fit so your position is dialled from day one
• UK-based workshop support for servicing, upgrades and repairs
• Cycle to Work / salary sacrifice options available on many builds
• UK-wide delivery or collection from our base near Lewes

“I’ve ridden a lot of bikes over the years from big-name brands to custom builds but the Roman Aero has genuinely surprised me. The first thing that stands out is how balanced it feels. It’s aero and fast when you’re on the gas, but still smooth enough to hold speed over rough roads or longer efforts. The front end feels planted really confidence-inspiring on descents and when you sprint, there’s no hesitation. You can feel every watt going straight into forward motion. Paired with the Laminar wheels, it’s properly rapid. The whole setup feels like it’s been designed by people who understand racers not just engineers or marketers. After a few weeks of racing and training on it, I can honestly say it’s a bike I’d happily race all season. It’s quick, comfortable, and looks incredible in the black finish. Roman have nailed it.” Ollie Peckover UK Road & Time Trial Winner | Roman Bikes Ambassador

Chris Opie Roman Superlight Review “I’ve ridden a lot of bikes in my time from pro team setups to the latest test bikes in the industry and the Roman Superlight instantly felt like a proper race bike. I only had an hour on it, but that was enough to know it’s the real deal. The response when you accelerate is sharp, and the handling feels dialled in straight away light, fast, and composed. You can tell it’s been built with racers in mind. It’s the kind of bike that makes you want to push harder the moment you get on it.” Chris Opie Ex-Professional Cyclist | Former GCN Presenter | Muc-Off
